The Documentary and Oral History Studio became part of the Department of History in the fall of 2012. It’s work combines the high production values and storytelling techniques of documentary filmmaking together with the scholarly methodology of oral history. Our work is informed by the research agendas of faculty and students, whether working independently or collaboratively. We prioritize assisting faculty and student projects that lead to publication or scholarly engagement in some form, whether as feature films, articles, books, presentations, or online media. The Studio’s main course offering is HIST A404: Documentary and Oral History, which is also a required course in Loyola’s new BFA in Digital Filmmaking.
I am Joseph F Lockwood of New Iberia, La and a member of the Iberia African American Historical Society. Howe Institute was a prep school to Leland College and I came across your article, Leland University & the Education of Freed Slaves in New Orleans, online. We are interest in highlighting Howe graduates as well as the institution. Are you aware of an archive that houses information on Leland graduates that may assists us in document the accomplishments of Howe/Lealand College graduates?
Thanks!
